Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I race but I feel like most members of the general public/ and half this forum could not hold a pace of 14 mph for 4 hours without stopping.

For the record, I was impressed with a guy his age riding 100K. At any pace.

14 mph isn't really all that impressive.

Impressive to me. I've never been able to break 13 MPH average on my KHS on anything over 10 miles. My first ride on my Felt yesterday I averaged 13.1 MPH. 14.6 average for 4+ hours is pretty dang awesome!

Yeah, the pace may not be impressive but how many of us will be around or even riding at 100 years of age?

Good stuff!
