Best bike for <900?
Ok I am about to purchase the defy 5, 2012...BUT, I just received 200 bucks in saving bonds that has increased my budget....
What's the best aluminum bike that can support 260lb allday for under 900.... I feel with this extra cash I could possibly buy a trainer or speedometer but I want the best possible components and aggressive lean as possible now.

I think it kind of depends on the sales you run into. A lot of brands have good entry level bikes that are worth considering, so you would just need to look around for a deal. One of my favorite shop here in the Netherlands currently has some awesome Colnago and Wilier bikes with huge discounts, even though these are not brands that first come to mind when thinking about bang for buck entry level bikes.
I think for 900, it would make sense to shoot for aluminium with at least Tiagra groupset, but if you shop around you may also be able to find 105. But dont stare at components too much. After all, all of that does not matter if the bike itself does not suit your particular anatomy, preferences, flexibility, riding style.
I think it is advisable to get the best bike your budget allows you to get. Save some money for the other essentials (pedals, floorpump and whatnot), but get all the optional stuff later when you have some money to spend on it. I personally would not get a cheaper bike to get a speedometer or a trainer. Up to you of course, but that is what I would do.

If your LBS still has 2012 models, the Defy 2 with a 20% discount is around $900

They are only discounting the 2012 to 10%.... And I understand the components dot matter as much but I have a pump, I can easily get a trainer a couple weeks later and I really feel as if maybe I should just spend some extra cash to find the color scheme and a better bike... Then again, maybe I should stick w the defy 5 incase I don't fully get into it, which I highly doubt since I desire riding with groups and pushing myself to the limit... Hobby and sport
I wish okc had more road trails though and a better selection of bike shops... I really don't wanna stoop and go back to bike one after such poor service.
How did everyone know what was right for their first road bike?!? This seems much more difficult than I imagined... Maybe I've been doing too much research:/

I'd look for a 2012 caad x 6. Seen them for around $900. It's a cyclocross bike so a bit more stout than a regular road bike.
They didn't. Most have been through more than one bike.

There is only so much you can find out through internet etc. You may not be able to choose between models now, but for most people, once you see the bike in person, and check how they "fit" you, the decision becomes a lot easier. Definitely recommended to visit some bike shops.
