Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

New bike, Bianchi Impulso 105, with pics:)

I have the choice of buying Nirone 7 with sora group (maybe tiagra) and the impulso with 105 group.
Both are new 2012 models and the impulso is about 300 dollars more than the nirone. Is it worth it?
Im not gonna be in any competitions.(yet I think) Just going to use the bike for training.

I like the look of the Nirone better,(its white against a red Impulso) but is the 105 group and the impulso so much better that its worth the extra cash?
Ofc the seller ment the Impulso would be a far better bike, thinking of the frame and the components.
What do you guys think?

This seasonI had about 1600km on my old bike and I plan to have 200+ next year. + that I have a Tacx Satori for winter cycling in my basement.

I have the 2012 Via Nirone Sora and while I am extremely happy with it, I'm only using it as a flashy way to get lunch in the afternoon. If you're thinking about training, as in "you're gonna race someday" type of training, then get the 105; you can easily shift from the hoods and drops, unlike the Sora, where it is a pain to shift from the drops. I also heard that the 105 group is lighter, more reliable, and requires less maintenance.

I can't answer but I favor the 105 just because it's a solid choice.
As long as it's 10 spd Tiagra, it's solid if the $300 is a stretch for you. No worries.

You're right, the Nirone white looks better than red. I just don't think Bianchi looks right in red, I would pass on that color.

The Celeste or black are my favorite colors for those models.

The Nirone I looked at has the sora group but I think they have it with tiagra too. If the only have it with sora ill take the impulso. The impulso is red/black and I like it more the more I look at it. At the point I'm now I'm not gonna race but who knows in a year or two.
The impulso will be 100 above my budget but budgets are made to be broken someone told me

im going to take a look at them on Wednesday and ill probably end up with one of them then.

Maaan, I was imagining the all red version during your first description. The black/red one is truly badass, I'd totally jump on it. Here's my Sora in the black/red, and I love the hell out of it.

That Black/red looks sharp. The website had a all-red bike, which I didn't like.

That Jamis looks the best though!

Ride them both. I test rode the VN7 with Tiagra last week but not the Impuslo. My LBS was sold out of the Impulso. The LBS did say that everyone who rode both back to back ended up saying they liked the Impuslo better. I personally did not care for the shifting of the Tiagra gruppo. It felt clunky and noisier than the Shimano Acera on my Jamis Coda hybrid. In all fairness it may be that the Nirone was out of adjustment being a rental. There may also be a difference in the wheels and/or bars, crank, brakes etc. between the two. Bianchi will usually improve more than just the gear sets between classes of bikes. The Impulso is Bianchi's new hydroformed AL which looks more like a CF without the welds showing. I like the 105 brakes. They are very good. But you should ride both before you decide.

Haha thanks. As for the all-red Bianchi, yeah, something doesn't sit quite right about that bike with me. It reminds me too much of a Fuji or a Cannondale (and not in the good way).

The 105 set is better than Sora, especially with the shift levers. Test both and see if the 105 set feels worth the extra dough.

300 for both a much better frame and components? Take the Impulso in a heartbeat. I sell both and have ridden both. The Impulso is a much better bike.

This is a pic of the bike:https://bianchi.com/No/Bikes/Bikes_De...IDMaster=60895

I think Im leaning more and more over to the Impulso, despite its higher price. But Im thinking like this, if I have the bike for 4-5-6 years, how much will the 300 be pr year in extra cost.

Well, then Im bcak from the bike shop and I picked up a Impulso in size 55 I havent tested it yet, only fitted it in the trainer and ofc i have been sitting on it
I flipped the stem so its the wrong way but I feel more comfortable like that. Maybe Ill flip it back when I have tested the bike in the trainer or when I get outside when spring comes.

And its a real beauty Nice colors and details on the reparto corse components
And the San Marco saddle feels very comfy from the 15 mins Ive been on it.(without bike shorts, only in my jeans) Im really looking forward to test it tomorrow after work

I really like the frame too, especially in the front where the upper and lower tube meets, almost looks like a carbon frame
probably need to adjust seat, handlebar angle and so on when I get to test it, hopefully ill have time for it tomorrow before I go to work
will post a pic of it later!

I managed to squeeze in 1 hour of testing today, on the Tacx Satori and the bike feels much better than the Specialized did. I see theres less flex in the rear frame when using it in the trainer, the Specialized crank moved about 5mm sideways when putting some power to the pedaling but the Impulso are about 2-3mm. I feel more comfortable on it and can even sit on the low drops(is that correct for the lower part of the handlebars?) without any problems.
The saddle Im not so sure about, my toolbox fell a sleep one time during the hour but that can be some adjustments and/or my body needs to adapt to the saddle/bike. 1 hour is too little to judge the saddle I think.

Sorry for not adding pics now but I mislooked the clock so I have to take a quick shower and stress for work again. But I promise pics are coming!!

Not the best photographer but you see what it is
I like the bike more and more for everytime I look at it, all the details and the shape of the aluminium

Hmmm, you tell me. I didn't notice before now....
probably they did it wrong when they assembled it, I'll fix it before I'll take it outside. Even if it probably don't do anything else than look strange.
