Anyone have a Soma Stanyan?
I am starting to plan out my winter project and was looking at building up a Soma Stanyan. The bike will be used for commuting but also plan on doing about 100 miles on the weekends. Anyone here had a chance to build one up or ride one?
Cheers.
Cheers.

I built up the Double Cross DC from Soma. Fun project and I got a bike dressed out the way I wanted it. I bought the frame without any test ride. Great Ride.
Hope this helps.

I do not own, nor have I ridden one, but I have researched doing a steel build for a while. The universal comments on the Soma Stanyan are that it is an attractive lugged frame, nice ride, but that it has an incredibly short headtube for any given size, and will lead to an aggressive position or a long fork steerer cut and many spacers.

Check the commuting forum (I think). There is a guy there who has one. He posted a bunch of pictures of his a while back. I was eyeing one but felt the HT was a bit too short. Nice looking frame though.

Thanks for in the info everyone. I wonder if the HT height will be a problem for me. I am short; 5'7. I had a bianchi with a really short head tube awhile back. Hmm.

Check out the Smoothie. It doesn't have lugs but is a nice bike for the price too. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that because you live in Brooklyn there's a good chance you're a little more concerned with the look of your bike than most (yeah, I'm stereotyping), but you can spec out just about any bike to look pretty sick. I've got a Smoothie, think the Stanyan looks great and have no regrets.
