Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

$20 gift card at REI, what should i buy?

I have a $20 gift card from REI for buying a garmin edge. I dont really need anything for my bike since i already have most of the stuff and a long sleeve jersey is to expensive. Really the only thing id buy are ear warmers but i dont really wanna get it at REi since there isnt any that i like
What can i get for $20? Its a one time use card so it has to be over $20 bucks so i can take advantage of it. I was thinking of getting energy drinks or somthing https://www.rei.com/category/4500061 Its buy 12 get 20% off which is pretty good i guess. What would you recommend i get from the Energy Food and Drinks?

I generally don't like bars, although I have on occasion eaten Bonk Bars. I'm not a nutritionist, but it's my understanding that gels get glucose into your bloodstream faster than bars. I also find that gels are easier to eat while riding than bars.

Just picked up a self massage thing there, seems to help more than a foam roller. Was like $30

Return the gift card and spend it on 2 months more of TrainerRoad. That's probably the best way you can spend it to truly improve your performance over the winter!

It must be winter.

Fridays is my company's secret Santa gift exchange. For less than 10 bucks, what should I buy? And please help me decide what I should have for breakfast tomorrow too. FFF.

GU gels are good to carry for emergencies. REI has decent price on Woolie Boollie socks. Any Park Tool product, they generally aren't discounted anywhere.

lycra skull cap, or maybe one of those inserts that keeps your rear der back and thus chain off chain stay when you remove the rear wheel. I thought tubes first so if you dont have a few spares do that. if you don't have chain wear measuring tool, get one of those.

donate the $20 gift card to me....jk.

I just bought the hero 3 black at REI today. but, I had to drive to San Diego. they wouldn't ship it up to the OC cause of the battery. stupid! but, it was the only REI that had it. they got a shipment of 26 at 12 pm today and by 4 pm, when I got there, they had 3 left. I had one on hold, so I knew I would get one. Not surprised that they went fast though.

If I was only going to spend $20, I would go for a back light or a pair of gloves.

If you're in need of it, they sell a Lezyne trigger drive (Co2) or a Lezyne mini pump, both for $20.00 or under.

A lot cheaper than $6.30 each, which is what they cost if you buy 3 or more? ($7.00 but discounted 10% if you buy 3 or more.)

Gu works much faster than bars, IME.

Where do you live an what do you actually need? Rather than get gels that you don't normally eat or food, I'd get chemical hand warmers unless you don't ride in serious cold so your hands don't get cold. Other things that come to mind are waterproofing spray if you ride in the wet.

Decent socks are always nice.
