The 2014 Weight and Mileage Thread

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

143 miles gained and 3lbs lost in the week. Not too shabby. Mileage down a bit on last week mainly due to colder and icier weather curtailing my pre-work morning rides and turning back on the Saturday group ride because I wimped out. However, weight loss coming on just by cutting out snacks, reducing portion size of main meals and getting the calories burnt on the bike. Forecast isn't too good for the coming week, but I've just fitted new SKS Longboard fenders to my winter steed and I'm dying to get out there to test them out. Won't be taking any unnecessary risks so it will be turbo if needs be.

Mileage sent (last night). Bad week due to the flu, but managed some MTB miles yesterday. Got some catching up to do for sure...

Feel your pain there, Jeepster. Weather has been ideal here, mainly due to lack of windy conditions, but I was indoors from a serious bug as well. After another week off the bikes, I'll be ready next Monday. Your first day back will be a good one.

I removed those who have not submitted any miles from the main graph, but not permanently. Can always be added in later, but the Master is now a little less crowded. Also changing the individual graphs to better reflect current stats by shrinking to a 6 week window or so.

4 miles for last week still 190 pounds, I orginally planned to buy studded tires, but it got warm all of the sudden, and I did'nt, now it's cold and snowy and I'am debating if I should or not.

I'm finding that looking at MPH on the trainer is a sure-fire way for me to hate my time on it. Trying to keep my HR in a specific zone, however, is bearable.

I find what makes being the trainer the most agonizing is how slow the clock on my Garmin goes. Every minute takes about ten. I HATE trainers. Unfortunately they are a necessary evil. Only thing I pay attention to his power (hr if no pm of course).

This off season I am watching "Cheers". In past years I found that episodes of "Family Guy" helped make time go by a little quicker.

Also try 24. DVD or Netflix. Time flies, and what a great show.

Rogue, I'll add you if you respond to this message. I know you are new, but the deadline passed. since there isn't much additional demand, I can squeeze you in.

Watched "Wild Hogs" while suffering on the trainer yesterday evening. Plan on stopping at a Redbox before tonight's session.

I've decided that riding a trainer isn't miserable enough so I am going to watch all of the Twilights.

Vampires. Scary. Make you ride faster. I need to see those as I have a teenage daughter (for one more month).

Seriously though, try 24 if you didn't watch it when it was on. Best show ever.
