Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I have been running cst, ultra speeds for the last 3 years, Kevlar belt, folding, good ride and handling. I get them from an ebay store called nice bike tires .com. $52.00 delivered. Normally in 3 days.

the "Forte Pro +" are solid tire. nothing to write home about, but excellent price point and quality for a commuter or someone that rides without a focus on top speed and superb grip....great budget tire. runs big though (25 =28)

I've been using Serfas STK-RS folding tires for a couple years now. These seem like the best kept secret. They are light, handle well, and long lasting for a training tire. I routinely go about 1,200 to 1,500 miles before a single flat and at that time the rear tire is ready to be replaced anyway.

Agree with all of this. I really like the Krylions, they go on forever and seem to be almost as grippy as the Pro3 (my favorite summer/fall tire). I have a set of Pro4 endurance tires in my garage, waiting for my current Krylions to wear out. Could be a while though...

This will be my first year with Michelin Lithions - they were a good price ($25 each) on Amazon - it's good to read decent reviews about them. Previous years I had Continental and another type of Michelin. The only bad tire I've had in 12 years of riding were the stock Specialized tires that came with my Roubaix. Couldn't ride 100 miles without getting a flat. I try and target around $30 for tires each year and so far I've been happy with just about any tire I've purchased.

i'm over 200 pounds. i ride at 100 psi and it feels very hard. I once pumped up to 120 and it was so painful.

michelin lithion and rubino pros for me. I don't seem to get punctures. I've had a co2 pump for 2 years and still to use it in anger.

My evals:

-- Michelin Krylion Carbon were great -- nice ride, long wear, no punctures; I just ordered a pair Pro 4 Endurance, I hope they are as good
-- Vittoria Rubino Pro III: Nice tire, very long wear, no punctures but a bit prone to nicks
-- Vredestein Fortezza Tri Comps: Best riding tire in this category I have owned, great puncture resistance, but they wear out fast
-- Conti GP 4000: I know people swear by em, and they are very nice ride, but I get a lot of punctures.

FYI, PBK has some good tir sales now. Also, I got an additional 10 bucks off with coupon code DOLLAR10 so my Pro4 Endurance tires came in under $63.00 for the pair (free shipping).

Specialized All Condition, Armadillos if you want extra puncture protection and don't mind a bit more weight. The wire bead version comes in under your $50 mark. You can get the All Condition Elite for a few dollars more and about a 75g weight reduction.

Very happy with Michelin Pro4 Endurance, especially in 25mm. Excellent all around tires, long wearing, pretty grippy for a training tire.

I have gp4000s tires on my good bike and All Conidtion Armadillos on my bad weather bike. The GP 4000s is a great all-around tire. Very happy with them. The Armadillos ride like bricks, as someone else noted, but they are bulletproof.

One of the UK sites (Wiggle) was having a sale recently on the 4000s. A pair plus 5 Conti Race tubes for $90 including shipping. Not sure if it is still on though.

These are my choice for sure can be had for sometimes less than $40 a tire. Also good choice is Kenda Kaliente Iron Cloaks, they are only 198gs and wear almost as good as the Vreds no as long.

What do the 700x25s measure out at? The 700x25 Krylions I have measure out at 26.7mm wide on RR465 rims, I'm wondering if the Pro4 Endurance are similar.

I have not measured them, but by eyeball they seem more than 2 mm wider than the same tires in 23.

Veloflex Corsa is the right answer, GP4000s is the popular answer.

OMG - Conti Race tubes...
i don't like to knock stuff, but I made the mistake of buying 6 of these from 3 different sources - not super pricing, but ok, and I needed some tubes and figured the conti tubes would be as good as as their tires - NOT!
I've now had 4 of these split at mold seams, all within 300-500 miles of being installed within GP4000, WTB Alto Camino (was a great tire) and Forte DC Pro.
All tires showed no punctures.
No, these were no pinch flats from improper install...
These tubes are total crap!
I regularly use PerfBike Ultralight(light) and Maxxis Ultralight which are both lighter by 20 g than the Contis (at 67 g ea) and therefore much thinner, and have very little problems with them, they usually go a whole year without any issues.
The Conti Race tubes I will now avoid like the plague...

I'm seriously considering getting a set of Veloflex Masters, just because the skinwalls look so cool.

They've even embraced the wider tire trend and now sell a massive (for them) 23mm.
