Ordered a gossamer crank and a 6700 bb today! Will they work???
As the title says I found a good deal on a take off fsa gossamer pro crank today with no bb. I also ordered a shimano 6700 bb to go with it.
I read a couple old post that said it would work I just wanted to make sure.
I'm doing a couple upgrades to my '12 trek 1.5. I also put 105 derailleurs on it and picked up a ultegra chain. Some new brake pads too.
Before you say it I know... Perfume on a pig.

I'm not sure about that specific combination - so I'll defer to those who say it will work.
But be aware that just about every FSA crank has a specific BB made for it - they're all just a little bit different. Gawd only know why.

I have used Shimano BB's with the Gossamer and have never had a issue......not to say yours wouldn't be the first.

They were done on customers bikes Bruce but I never heard any complaints from them.

The Shimano BB shells are about a mm wider, so you'll have a less than ideal chain line, which is why I'd never do it to a customer's bike.

So I should scrap the idea and just orber a fsa BB? I'm sure I could sell the 6700 BB when it gets here.

Ultegra cranks by comparison are probably best value i.e. cost/performance.

+1. But maybe go 5700 to match the new derailleurs he's putting on.

Ok. I will send it to you and you can just send me the cost after you receive it. I will message you with my email address and you can email your mailing address.

I don't work as a mechanic anymore, but one millimeter of difference in chain line on a multi speed bike wouldn't cause me to lose a wink of sleep.

No problem. FSA bbs are pretty much disposable.
The ultegra bbs make it all work great.

All the hand-wringing over the FSA BB. *sigh* I have over 2,000 miles on my Omega crank and BB, and it spins as true as the day it was installed. Offering Shimano as the fix to everything just further proves Kool-Aid supply is ample in this industry. I have an old 105 5600 BB sitting around doing nothing, but I am not in a rush to replace my 'disposable' BB.
You guys make it sound like FSA BB's are made out of the cardboard in which they are shipped
