For those of you the got the 810, did you get a satellite lock at all?
I've successfully loaded the free map following DCRainmaker's blog.. so hopefully will get a lock tomorrow. Right now the time shown on there is Taiwan time.
Oh and charging via computer now. But you should be able to charge using cell phone USB charger too right?

here's an update on my 810. couldn't get a lock with the UK basemap. so after installing the freemap of California in, this morning "ta-da" got the GPS lock.
i wonder if it's because of the different basemap that's why it's not locking. but will try that out today and see.
at least i know the 810 works.. so tonight.. time to mount this baby and retire the 9yr old cateye computer i have on there.
@SpeshulEd: hey brother.. no excuses here.. you should start playing with it now.. hahaha J/K.. i know work is more important...

I'm charging right now and downloading the 3.5gb US Map file...however, I might have to wait awhile for it, it says it's going to take a day to download at the office. Will have to see if things pick up tonight at home.
For what its worth, the plug says 5v, 1.0A Max for output, which is the same as the plug for the iphone. So you should be able to use the iphone plug and just plug the usb directly into that for charging.
I've saved a backup of the Garmin Europe map and formatted the card. Will be dumping the free map on that card.
Then all I should have to do is setup my profile/bike profiles and hopefully, I'm good to go.

Pro bike kit sucks: the price was good, but the customer support is ****. They have gone downhill and they aren't climbing out of this anytime soon.

So, for what its worth, I downloaded the most current map from this location... https://daveh.dev.openstreetmap.org/garmin/Lambertus/
...scroll down to the bottom to find the current week's directory, and then the 4000mb/3.5gb file at bottom of the page is the map image. I think these are car routable ones though and not bike ones like you have the option of making from the dcrainmaker link. I was 70th in the queue for that, but got an email last night that my file was ready, so I'm going to try downloading that and see what happens as it should be a "bike routable" file. For what its worth, downloading at home went much faster than work.
I also noticed, that the maps don't have all point's of interest. For example, when I go to look for nearby grocery stores, it's skips the ones down the road and shows the closest one is a walmart. To be honest, that's not that big of a deal for me, I'll make my own POIs.
I got everything up and running last night.
After I got the file, I deleted the beginning text of it, so it was just gmapsupp.img or whatever and then placed it in the "GARMIN" folder on the card. Loaded that in the 810 and the maps loaded after a few seconds.
I took it outside and it worked on finding the satellites. It was taking a long time, so I was messing with other stuff, like synching it with my phone at the same time. I'm not sure if it was just by chance, but immediately after synching with my phone, it acquired the satellites (now, it takes a few seconds after I turn it on to acquire the satellites). I also deleted the basemap, deleted the garmin locations that came preloaded and saved my home location. Other than that, I just set up my bike profile, my user profile, got all my screens the way I want them, and made sure my HRM and speed/cadence sensor were working/synching properly and now I think I'm good to go. I'm trying it out today on my way in to work.
But I'm going to go ahead and say, awesome deal on UK garmin 810 + free US maps = awesome!

It's pretty nice too, I have courses mapped out for my commute, which I loaded this morning. As you approach a turn, it beeps and tells you that you'll need to be turning left/right in a certain distance/time. I know my way to work, but this will be handy when I make longer courses ahead of time. I no longer need to follow the map, as the screen will change and notify me of a turn when I approach it.
I also like the time notice before a turn...it gives me a nice little game of beat the clock.

pretty neat jersey for only $20, I know some of you will not like them because you didn't do the ride but it's a nice jersey to add to the summer collection for cheap https://www.ebay.com/itm/CANNONDALE-G...item4173f7d876

great deal.. But what's up with the sizing.. S/M? Why not just S or M..?

Yeah it is tricky and I know the European sizing can be a lot smaller than normal. I want to get one for myself, but looking at their measurements, I don't even think the L/XL will fit me. I have a 46 inch chest.

Upgrade kits sick pricing:https://www.eurobikeparts.com/index.php
Just got my DA 9000 kit can't wait to install it! BTW, let's not spend this thread arguing the merits of upgrading components, especially ones costing nearly 2G's

speaking of jerseys... i buy mine from here: https://www.cheapcyclingjersey.com/
i found them though FB and thought i give it a try. it does take a long time to arrive since it's shipped by China Post. but the fabric is nice.. hands down just like the real thing. this company makes for most brand names... so when pearl izumi doesn't pass the QC. they retag it and sell it for cheap. i got my garmin barracuda set for $55 shipped last year and comparing to the real thing.. it's identical, except the padding on the shorts (different color).

I've been looking for a decent price on the Pearl Izumi Attack shorts but seems like they're $80 nearly everywhere. I found that Cycle Sports UK has them for $51 shipped to the US. Make sure to select US currency and United States to see price adjust. Never ordered from them before but appears to be reputable from what I searched and you can pay using PayPal. https://www.cyclesportsuk.co.uk/produ...scroll_to_here

@Jed19: I have pearl izumi bibs and shorts and I love them. Wen I found this company through an ad in FB, I was sceptical at first. So I bought long sleeve jersey and pants, both in thermal and regular along with a set of Garmin Barracuda set. When I got them... Can't tell the differences in the material only the tag was not labeled Pearl Izumi.
the Garmin Barracuda set, I compared it to my customer, Barracuda Networks, original version and its the same. Except my customer was going to sell me the set for $250 when I only paid $50.
I'm not saying buying counterfeit is good or not, but remember all these high priced jerseys are make in China or somewhere in Asia. So if the QC does pass, of course these clothing manufactures will sell them at cost or with some marked up profits. Not trying to start an argument or anything, but just sharing my opinion.
if you do plan on buying, remember to buy one size up. I usually wear Small, so when ordered M it fits perfectly.

ruirui, I just checked out some of the stuff. Ridiculously low prices, but I wonder about sizing. Are these all counterfeit, made by the same manufacturer, or are they rejects (or whatever you want to call it) from many companies? Because some of the "legit" stuff is Pearl Izumi (for example), while others are Castelli, while others are Sportful. Each of these companies stuff fit differently, I am a medium in PI, but an XL (!!!) in Sportful. So do all these size discrepancies play out through this stuff, or is it all manufactured by the same company, regardless of what "brand" they are supposed to be? Bottom line, if I order one size up, regardless of what I'm buying, it should all fit the same?
Also, how's the chamois in the shorts?
