Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Tall people in Denver -- this ad is the real deal Felt F 55 63cm . Felt F55 with Dura Ace. Only thing not right is the wheels I do not believe are Easton -- they are the stock ones. Includes SPD SL pedals and shoes (11.5 -- fit like 11). Seller was super nice. Would've taken it home but it was just a hair too big.

Price point is offering free shipping this weekend with no minimum order. Their 60mm generic brand tubes run fairly cheap if you buy 5..... Around $20.

Hmm... Nobody posted the 2014 Rapha Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/rapha-annual-survey
Completing the survey gives you a 20% off coupon.

Combining it with the stuff in the clearance / bundles section can give you decent deals:
Clearance | Rapha
Bundles | Rapha

Sale ends on Friday.

The intent of this thread is not to share a great one-off deal that you got, but a great deal that you can share with others to take advantage of. Don't get me wrong - we're happy for you and hope you enjoy your ride, but this is the wrong place.

No problem, Village Cycle in Chicago, they have some sizes left, advertised online at $1849!!!!!! They have many other great deals on 2012 and 2013 models as well. I get what you are saying, but if anyone is in the area and they are looking for a new road bike I was impressed with the selection of close-outs they had remaining.

Easy Rider in Chicago has 2013 Schwinn Fastback 2's for $550. The 2014 model retails for at least $800 and, the best I can tell, the only difference is the paint job. As of yesterday they had at least 2 left (I know because I bought the 3rd one on the floor).

Not sure how hot this deal is but certainly decent enough for me. I have two Lupine lights for the MTB rides but wanted a cordless one for the road bike. I also wanted one that was around 100 grams and could easily double as a helmet light and triple as a camping flashlight. I think this deal is not hard to find but I prefer buying local when possible so drove to Boulder and got the Exposure Diablo MK5. Great beam pattern and a tiny light considering it is self-contained and you can plug in a bright tail light and piggyback battery to it. My first road evening ride will occur today- dying to test it out since I am a bit of a light geek. Price is ~$199.

Exposure Diablo Mk5 - Excel Sports

  • USB rechargeable
  • 3 Cree XPG R5 LEDs
  • Made in the UK of CNC aerospace aluminum
  • 108 grams
  • 1100 Lumens
  • Fuel gage indicator
  • 3100mAh Lithium Ion battery
  • Burn time: 1 - 24hrs (depending on OMS selection)
  • Includes Handlebar mount and Smart Charger

This place seems legit so far... You have to "join" with an email addy but its free. The site is called 'The Clymb'

EDIT: thanks to a fellow forumer, I've been made aware that this site only refunds as "store credit". I personally don't play dat,so I removed the link. Also there is a rumor that strange unusual things can happen if you sign up

Wheelsets on sale, getchya wheelsets heayuh (Shimano entry-level)

Idk if anyone's interested but I've found a few of Shimanos entry level wheelsets at good sale prices. The r501,rs11,and rs21 specifically... I grabbed a set of rs11 @ $113 shipped w/ a 15% off code 100US, from probikekit.com. It is a UK site so caveat emptor but free US shipping...ill let ya know how I make out with them. I saw the r501 for $98 a SET from a UK site called Merlin Cycle! They ship free to US as well but when i added wheels to cart it added shipping too Found them in US for $133 (will not price match). Rs21 are around $165 I believe, msrp is like $409,usual retail price over $200 anyway. Those 3 models are around for imho a good deal. Wheel snobs may turn up their noses but they are a quality wheel, the radial 16f with 20r looks sweet (maybe the "sexiest" wheelsets under $200?), and while not light they're not bricks either- around 1800g+ for the pair iirc. Quality and looks-wise I'd say its a nice step up from a cheap factory set, or for the build-on-a-budget like mine. Hope this helps someone!

Keep rollin'

I think it's really unusual/strange/suspicious that you have to give them personal information before you can even browse the site to see what they have. What reason do they give for this?

The Clymb is OK, but not great (signed up a while back). Selection is limited and they usually don't have what I'm looking for.

They do send out a lot of emails, but so does Nashbar, BikeTiresDirect, Amazon, etc. I'm not the type to impulse buy, so I should probably just unsubscribe.

Also- be careful with the clymb. They don't do returns for a refund, only credit towards something else. If something doesn't fit they might be out of the size you need by the time the exchange goes through. If you do wait around long enough they run 20-25% off and at times will just give you $10 to $20 credits which might make it worthwhile to pick something up.
