For UK bike shops, my best experiences are from Wiggle, but they ship almost every time using carrier methods that collect customs fees (usually DHL). Any Int'l shipping that is more post-based, and uses USPS for their US fulfillment (NOT DHL-USPS partnership or anything) you will almost always avoids customs. ProBikeKit (PBK) is also pretty good, but watch out for anything that goes out of stock, especially if you get an awesome deal with a 10% or 15% bonus discount. I had one order back-ordered for 2 months, all the time the charge was already against my credit card, but I got such an amazing deal I just had to wait it out. Other options was cancel and resubmit order later, but then the low price and big extra discount I had wouldn't have applied. All of my orders from PBK except for my most recent one were shipped in a way that used USPS for all United States fulfillment, and I was never charged customs. Watch out on components from Ribble if you're expected them to be retail packaged. An order a few months back of Shimano 105 shifters, Ultegra FD and RD, and Tiagra cassette were all OEM packaged (plastic bags with labels...not Shimano cardboard packaging).
I live in the U.S. and did not get hit with any fees. I also have two orders from PBK coming in--I bought Campy Scirocco wheels for $181 (I had a 10% off discount). That was the best deal by far on those that I had seen. I ordered a Fisik seat as well but the deal was nothing special. In a seperate order I purchased Vittoria Rubino Tires for under $50 for both. That was a pretty good deal but could have been had elsewhere for comparable pricing.
If only I could find a frame now.

Thanks for confirming what was scratching me. It may be legit as they are an official dealer but in the end it just did not feel right. I bought a colnago clx from excelsports.com instead. Hopefully I will receive it next week.

This is not a thread to post "is this a good deal" questions. For those type questions, you'll get far better response if you start a thread with your question in the "Road" forum. This thread is for "Hey, I found this great deal that I thought others could benefit from, too".
Thanks.
Thanks.

Be aware that there is a time limit with paypal--you have only 30 or 45 days (something like that) to file a claim after the vendor has been paid. In a pre-order situation, it's entirely possible that you won't even have the merchandise before the paypal deadline. Some of the guys who ordered carbon frames from China ran into this problem because of manufacturing/painting/shipping delays. I came pretty close with my HongFu frame. Not Hongfu's fault, really; just part of life.

It might be 45 days for paypal, but using your credit card gives you the bank's protection as well. I've gone that route in the past. Paypal can say whatever they want, but the bank has the final say if you dispute a charge. Got me my money back on that Ciamillo "Crapitas" crankset pre-order.

I love the bike. This was tops on my list until I got the deal I got on a colnago. I still wonder if I made the right decision. I say great bike at a great price.

Performance Bike has a one day sale today only (7/25) on Michelin Krylion Carbon tires $34.99 minus 25% puts them at $26.24 a tire. Not the cheapest I've seen them, but still a great deal. Anyone considering the Michelin Pro 4 Endurance should give these a try. I just ordered a spare set because I like these so much.
700x25c are backordered until September, but you can still order them.

EDIT: i think the 3.3" refers to the packaging, which is what it would show on other sites. when checked out it shows as 700x23. but these are on heavy side.. good for touring

I currently have schwalbe Lugano that came with my Caad10 105. I'm completely new to cycling but I thought this might be good to stock up on in case I blow a tire I won't be forced to pay whatever locally or wait to find a deal and not be riding.

As many of us know, Rapha is pricey but they are having a sale right now. The replica Sky jerseys, which are actually quite nice for being "replica" are half price. There's some other deals. Some bibs under $100. I have a bunch of stuff from them, mostly bought on sale or given to me as gifts, but all of it is really top notch stuff. Best in my growing collection of bike stuff. The merino wool baselayer tanks are my favorite item of workout clothing I own, period. Anyway, the link Sale | shop | Rapha
