OK, I know I'm fat, but...

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Liposuction banner ads on the road forum? Really? I could see when I'm looking at the Clyde forum, but give a fat guy a break. What happened to internet anonimity? I like to think I'm 140 when I'm on the 41.

I haven't seen those ads.

But I do get tons of "recovery from addiction" ads when I am in the addiction thread.

those ads are likely sourced from stuff in your browser history.

Indeed.
Also ... search engines like Google will keep your history regardless of what your computer keeps and will use that info for smart advertising.
In other words: people get adds tailored specifically for themselves.

I'm not seeing the link between my browser history and liposuction (unless "liposuction" is a euphemisme for something dirty). Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.

Pay the membership and you won't get any adds. That also helps to keep the forum running.

Wasn't really aware that there was a paid membership (thought it was just to sell stuff). I just joined, and now I'm worried I'll miss the ads. I did get the coupon code for the liposuction. I'm all set for next wednesday at 3.

Bon-Bons? I take offense. I'm an American. I'm eating pork rinds. However, being from Massachusetts, I'm eating Organic Pork Rinds.

Google is pretty shameless about customizing ads to a particular user. I use gmail and they even mine through your e-mails to customize ads to you. If I don't want google to know about a search term I'll use bing

Now that I think about it, the only place I consider myself fat is on the 41. I have used the term here. I'm going to stop being obsessed with the black helicopters, and start freaking out about the interweb nerds.

What he said! I lost 30kg, got down to 85kg (apparantly my 'ideal' weight) and I still have to wear an xl Jersey. Cycling clothes are made very small - guess it a sport for small light people.

There is no recovery or cure for Addiction once you've been in there. The only answer is abstinence.

Funny - As I'm reading through the thread I notice my ad is for KFC's new Chunky Chicken Pot Pie.

I think it's a sign.
