How did you pay for your bike?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Put the initial purchase on my cc. Then I sold my old (not very) bike and paid a large chunk of that off. Then (and this is all within a couple of weeks) I got a holiday bonus at work which paid another large chunk of it off. Still have a couple hundred to pay and should have that simply from disposable income within a month. Will be 3 months from time of purchase to full pay off.

In return for your hard work you were given a bike? Or were you paid $$$ that you saved for months?

My GF and best friend went in together on a Aluminum 2004 TCR frame and had the shop build the bike up from there within a budget (it was like 1200). I then traded in some of the parts un-used and upgraded a ton of it for another 600-700. My bit was simply extra saved money from working.

People get bank loans for a bicycle? I suppose it's possible. Some bikes these days cost more than my last motorcycle!

Anyway, I used pocket change because I had $12 in my pocket when I saw the bike at a yard sale.

Hip - Good thing you have the radio....my wife says I'm not very funny and my kids rarely listen to me.

I generally charge it, then try to figure out a way to come up with the $$ to keep out of the doghouse for another couple months...

Sold two other bikes and took some money out of my savings account to pay for my roadie. It took close to three months for the frame to be built so I wasn't in a huge hurry. I wouldn't really say that I "saved for months" for it though. I try to save money in general so that I have it when I need it.

With my mountain bike I bought the frame I really wanted and the components I could afford at the time. Over time I upgraded the components so it became the bike I wanted.

Traded in an 2001 OCR1 on a 2005 Specialized Roubaix. For the difference, I used a credit card, the payment on which will be financed out of savings realized by quitting smoking in December after 42 years.

My Kuota was a 50th Birthday gift from my wife, in-laws, and a bonus. I also have a gift certificate coming that'll take care of some pedals.

Tax return, which in essence, is merely a subcategory of "HARD WORK".

Funny you should ask. I have, on several occasions, traded my professional services for frames and other major bike parts. Whether it's cash or trade, it's hard work.

Anybody need a television commercial?
