Ahhh, what size frame do I get for Wilier Imperiale
I'm new to Bike Forums, thought I would reach out to others with more experience than I.
My challenge is that I am buying my Wilier Imperiale frame online and don't know how to size myself out for a European bike.
Can anyone help me in making the right decision? My sizing dimensions are:
Inseam: 33
Trunk: 25
Forearm: 14.5
Arm: 27.75
Thigh: 24
Lower Leg: 22
Sternal Notch: 58.25
Total Body Height: 71.25
I usually buy a size L frame but the Imperiale L has an effective top tube length of 55.5cm when I usually fit best on about 57cm. Do I just get a longer stem or get a size XL frame with an effective top tube of 57cm? I've heard somewhere that Euro frames are ment to be a little smaller.
Thank you

I have your same dimensions, sort of, 6 ft. even, 33" inseam. I ride a 57cm on one of my bikes and 58cm on two others. I find the 57cm frame (A Tomasso Aggriazato) to be ideal. The 58cm ones are nice but find a 90cm stem on one and a 100 on other to be also ideal.
Raced back in the late 80's on a 60cm Basso Lotto, which was excellent.
A Pro fit, while being expensive, ($200+) for a good one can be priceless.

You probably could use a longer stem on the imperiale, but it might not need to be that much longer. It depends on the geometries of your old bike.
I recently built up a new bike with a smaller frame. The top tube is about 1.5cm shorter than my other bike and has a shorter head tube. I got some of the reach back by lowering the stem. I got fitted to the new bike and my power output and cadence increased in the new position. I second the recommendation for a fit.
Some retul fitters have a frame finder software where they will fit you on the dynamic fit bike and the software will find the correct size frame for you. Im not sure if Wilier frames are in the software database, but it might be worth looking into.

I'm definitely agreeing with paying the money for a pro fit. Sounds like I need to go with the XL frame with the effective top tube length of 57cm. Bummer is the size L frame the online site recommended is already on the way. Thanks Thinline

Excellent idea on the fit systems with software. My LBS just had one installed, I'll just have to swallow the $300 dollar fee he wants to charge me. Thanks

Ignore the nominal size, I.e. L,XL, and go with the effective TT.
I,m about an inch taller than you and ride an XL Wilier because a TT of 57.5 is the best fit for me
