Handlebar end cap fell out

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I found that the way to ensure your barend plugs don't bother you is to get going really fast, say bombing down a steep, long hill, and use the heel of your palm to bang that plug in nice and tight.

Do that once and you'll never care about your barend plugs ever again.

Are there any that anyone can recommend? I will be calling a local bike shop tomorrow to inquire about them as well, but I'm not opposed to looking online. I checked the REI website and they don't seem to have any that aren't bundled with bar tape, and I'm not exactly prepared to change my bar tape just yet—it isn't disgusting enough to be changed yet, and I quite like the grungy brown..

One more thing, I commute to work every day by bike and I will be also commuting tomorrow—I'm assuming it won't be an issue to ride it like this...would anyone like to confirm that?

It looks so bad without it...
Time for a new bike.

Meh. I've taken a day off from work for more trivial things. Come to think of it, it's not hard for me to come up with a reason to take a day off from work. In fact, if I had read this thread last night, I might have taken today off work in support of the OP. Plus it's pie day.

Same here. I must have reused those orange Bontrager end caps on about five re-wraps already.

I use these . They look great, the price is right, and they make you popular on group rides.

Black saddle = black bar tape. If you're itching to have some white, you could get some white brake covers (which are easier than tape to clean).

Ended up getting some black tape.

I'm not so sure about it yet. It's going to take some getting used to..

Please disregard dirty dishes—I'm a single working slob.

Walmart.

They're gloriously bad. I also think they're in cahoots with my bill providers to make it so I can't replace them when I'd like.. I'm also pretty sure they're the ones who made my handlebar tape so disgusting..

The cork from a large bottle of Chimay works perfect. It's kinda mushroom shaped.

You have brown tape, not white. Maybe a trip to Lens Crafters is in order...

Cork is a good material. It keeps the moisture out. Its very light, sustainable? Color it with a a felt Sharpie, if necessary. You make a statement by using cork.

Plastic caps are different. They tend to loosen, tend to get stolen, more expensive, needs to match.

Cork is also used on other parts of the bike as well.

I have a nice pair of polished silver aluminum Nitto plugs which are secured with screws.

$16 from rivendell; although they may be the last pair you buy.

Velox plugs also secure with screws $6.
