Daniels Points Question

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Daniels Points Question

Does anyone know how this is determined. Bike score gives you 100 points for every 1 hour ridden at FTP, and I read where Daniels gives you 33 for the same, but that makes no sense. I rode an hour at FTP today and got 90 plus Daniel Points. I'm confused. I read a lot about these being better scores for cycling stress than Bikescore, but I have to understand how it works before I believe that. No links I find clearly define it. Certainly doesn't explain how I got over 90 points in a 1 hour ride if an hour at FTP is 33 points. Now most of the ride was at VO2 Max, so maybe that figures in somehow ?

Anyone know ?

Here is a detailed explanation of the Daniels points metric (in the Golden Cheetah Google Discussion group)

Good luck!

Yep...seen that, but it doesn't answer the question as to how points are awarded.

Something wrong there. I had a sub 3 hour ride and the Daniels points calc was 128. Bikescore was 194.

There, too, if it's only 33 points in an hour at FTP. You couldn't have 128 in less than 3 hours. Three hours and a Bikescore of 194 means you rode around 65% of FTP. No idea what the Daniels score means. Thus...my question.
