Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is pretty much how I realized I had a cold. Except I was on a 4 mile run that became a 3 mile run. No NyQuil for me though.

Went for a run this morning.

Running is stupid.

Especially this morning. I'm not sure if it's from yesterday's ride, but I noticed my right achilles tendon was a little bit sore...ran through it...but it got worse so I bailed from the run at the 6 mile mark (had planned on 10-11) and literally limped home.

Did I mention that running is stupid?

I actually put my skills to the test shortly after I finished the training. We were on a family vacation and I pulled a kid out of the pool. I was about 17 at the time.

I'm running on 2 speeds now... stop and GO. Nyquil at night, pseudoephedrine and Red Bull during the day. I almost qualify for the USPS team.

That's very good, Rjones. I've never had the need to use the training. I hope I never will. If I stay away from bodies of water, I never will.

I just thought of something funny. "Keeping up with the Joneses" takes on a whole new meaning with a cycling rjones.

Someone needs to start a "Free Velo Vol" thread there. I am being persecuted because I am a road cyclist.

I'm sick of the weird weather this year. 3 days of good dry weather and now the rain is back. Pathetic.
