I think the problem is that you didn't explicitly state what your review was going to entail. If you had started out by saying it would be a series of reviews as you bought them, rode them, rode them some more, etc then you wouldn't have seen (as much) negativity. Keep the review of them coming as you pile on the miles. And get some cold hard numbers for us

Many people have great experiences with their no name carbon wheels, and some also have their negative experiences. I think people are more inclined to post negative reviews if the product fails them. Many people buy these kinds of wheels and have great success with them, but never post about it. I hope they turn out great for you, I was just kind of venting a bit.

And people aren't giving you a hard time for buying off brand wheels, it's just we (well at least I) were expecting an extensive review of your whole experience with them, from the ordering process to a reaction after having ridden them for a month or so.

Thanks for the plug but we don't do Chinese carbon. Taiwan only.

I figured he meant he went to you for the hubs. I can understand your wanting to clarify, however.

I hope you enjoy your wheels. They look nice. I look forward to hearing your experience with then once you ride them.

With carbon clinchers be careful on any long steep descents. I had a brake track failure on a steep twisty descent in some canyons last weekend on a name brand wheel. I'm not picking on generic Chinese rims It can happen to any carbon clinchers regardless of where they are from.

I picked up a pair of Yishuin 50mm carbon clinchers in late 2010. When I got my pair the rear wheel was out of true...but after a trip to the LBS to straighten them out...no more issues. Only thing I didn't like about the wheels was the screeching brake track. Brake track looked to be untreated (not sure if they changed it). The pair weighed just under 1600gr.

I put about 1500 miles on them with no issues. I sold them to a friend of mine and he's got about 5k on them. I can see that the rear brake track has a bit more wear than the front. I know he used some really crappy brake pads for a while...so I'm not sure if that's accelerating the wear.

I paid just under 600 after shipping.

I think the reason people are getting so jumpy is that you posted a "review" and you haven't even ridden the wheels once! Not even around the block? Seriously? Considering that the concerns about chinese carbon wheels center around durability and BUILD quality and not customer service, I'm sure you can see the disconnect.

Anyway, they look shiny. Go ride them, preferably for more than a week, and post updates. I'm sure you'll get more positive feedback when there's some user experience mixed in.

I enjoyed the review of the transaction process. And if someone spent time reading it - they would understand the context of the review. And accordingly, I knew that a physical review of the wheels would come later.

Cheers and have a great time testing them out.

They don't make hubs. They source their alloy hubs from hub maker(s) and then they make the carbon hub shells. The Zues is a straight up rebranded hub.

Knowing the sources for these I'm sure they're totally fine hubs.

I think by "tubs" he meant tubulars.

A shopping experience review should be subordinate or part two of a "wheel review", otherwise it should be called a "shopping review." If it comes as part of the ride/use review, then fine, otherwise a shopping review is most likely useless to most cyclist.

It's when you have issues with a product and getting the manufacture to correct the problem is where real customer service plays it 's part. Let's hope you have no problems with your wheelset. I want to thank you for all your information to this date.

seriously enough of the china bashing. if you've ever shopped at Walmart, you've supported the chinese economy already. I don't really like it either, but damn, it is what it is. probably 95% of carbon stuff these days is made in china, taiwan, etc., even the really high dollar bikes.

China and Taiwan are not the same place. They also differ in terms of manufacturing capabilities and business practices. Don't confuse the two.

I guess the wheels didn't work out as planned. No review after riding.
