Meh, I love Canada, cold winters and all. Cost of living is cheap, housing is inexpensive where I live and the summers are fantastic. In 4 years I'll be done working, 55 years old and wintering in warmer climates and get my cycling in then. Italy is first on the agenda for 3 months.
The idea that miles alone mean something as a metric, or that miles indoors are somehow less than miles outdoors is ridiculous. I'll put a Garmin file of an indoor ride up against your outdoor ride and compare power, heart rate, cadence etc. any day. Not saying I'm a better cyclist.... just dispelling this myth that an indoor ride means nothing. If anything, if your logic is correct, you should kick my butt given that you can cycle outdoors year round.
So to that end, for 2013 for Sufferfest videos alone here are my numbers...
50 rides
45 hours
247 watts average power
154 bpm average HR

1050 miles, 58,000 ft.
I know you guys are jelly @ my climbing(not srs). Wish I could do more climbing, thats about the only metric I track. Raw mileage is dumb.

Sorry, I'm not separating out the trainer miles just for this thread.
Almost all of these are not on the trainer.
~ 2,000 miles
~ 158k feet climbing

Ever done a century with over 10,000 feet of climbing? They aren't all "easy".
