Is the previous generation Madone still relevant?

I'm looking at 2009 Trek Madone 5.2 and have been offered a great deal on it...I've been out of the road biking game for so long and honestly do not have as much time as I do to rest ride everything out there. Has the bike game changed a lot in recent years? Is the OCLV Black carbon still very relevant and the DA 7800 gruppo still decent? Thanks in advance and any experience you guys can share... I'm coming from a Cervelo Soloist Team

If it fits and you like the ride, it's relevant. Some people like 7800 better than 7900.

if it fits, its a great bike. And 7800 is better than 7900 but not better than 9000 so it should treat you well

Ah that's great to know, thanks for that assurance. Good chance for me to save some money and use the difference on some rims.

If it doesn't have at least 10+ Trek decals, it's relevance drops significantly.
