Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i also have a very exciting update.

i discovered that the very fragrant weed that has taken up most of the back yard is catmint. (not catnip, but in the same family) not a native species, but now for some reason i'm not so annoyed by it, and will probably leave it where it has grown up around some rocks that outline the back garden. err.. brush pile. it should have purple flowers in a few weeks. we've never seen them before because the mowed part never gets big enough.

Wow, I hope I never need social advice from a cycling forum. Fail, fail, and fail.

Sage advice:

And I get to take some time out from real life crap to drop in and say hello.

Remember when I said I wasn't prone to crushes? Well, it's finally happened, and there goes my sanity.

Yeah that's Hannah....13, 7th grade sunday school "graduation." My other daughter is also adorable and 11.

I am 6 feet, maybe 6 feet 1/2 inch if I stand up really straight. 138 pounds as of today. The tee-shirt is the giveaway from last weekend's tri.

Ok, YOU are not too fat for this sport. Geezus, I'd have to lose 65 lbs to get where you are (6'1")!

I was looking at last week's tri times....the fastest runner did the 5K in 15 minutes flat. That's a 4:50 mile pace.

Wow.

OTOH the dude was terrible in the swim and the bike and finished in the bottom half overall.
