Shimano rx100 shifter cable issue

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Shimano rx100 shifter cable issue

Hi, I'm replacing my shifter cables. I replaced the left side shifter with no issue but I can't seem to figure out how to get the cable out of the right side (derailleur cable). The left side was able to pop right out.

Any idea what I need to do to get the right side cable out of the shifter housing?

Update: it seems that on the downshift lever it's not moving the cable out to allow the end to be pushed out of shifter. Had no issues shifting prior to taking out cable for dérailleur. Unfortunately cut part of cable so can't reconnect.

Any idea what might be stuck so I can get cable out?

thanks
Brent
