Changing fit - is it normal?
I am going to start training for triathlon this year. I have TT bike that I fit last year and was happy with the overall position.
I had the TT bike on the trainer all winter and it was ok too. As the weather allowed I was riding my normal road bike, but yesterday I started to ride TT and has a huge discomfort in crotch area. I did a circle around the block, but something did not feel right.
So, I have lowered the seat for 5mm and it felt much better! However, the chamois was cramped and did not feel good.
It is strange, because last year I did ride with lowered seat and did not like it. Now it is just right.
I probably could understand the change to more aggressive position, because I am getting stronger (or is it just my wishful thinking ) - but I cannot explain going to lower seat after last year season plus training in winter.
I do not have the same problem with my road bike, it feels the same as last year, no change in fit needed.
And though I feel more comfort with my current TT fit, the cramped chamois is still bothering me. I remember the same feeling in crotch at the time when I was wearing Medium size bibs, but now I am in Small. I will try better shorts, but not sure if it will help, because the same bibs are ok on road bike (not TT)
Is it normal to change the fit? Or it should be set in stone?
Do you ever change your fit?

I did not rest, I believe. I was riding trainer all winter, and did ride road (non TT) bike as soon as weather permitted. Also I did not loose that much of weight. In summer I am about 5lb less than in winter.

I got my bicycles all nicely set up quite a few years ago ... then I burned my left foot to the bone, and was off the bicycle for about 3 months (this was back in 2001). During that time I was also off walking and when I started walking again, I picked up a significant limp. So then I had to go to physio to relearn to walk. When I got back on the bicycle again, I had to make all sorts of adjustments.
