Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

SIDI Genius 5 Road shoe fit?

Anyone have experience with these? I'm a 150 miles from the nearest retailer to try them on.

I'm a solid size 11 in Nike, Clark, just about everything except Keen where the toe box is wider and I drop a half size or so. I used this online printout, but dubious of it: https://www.bicyclestore.com.au/conte...-shoe-size.pdf

Wondering whether I'm a 44 or 45 at this point. On the printout I scored a 44. Lots of ppl are saying the SIDIs run small so I thought I'd ask the Pros here. Thanks

I wear 9.5 in running shoes (Asics, Saucony, Brooks) and 43.5 Sidi. Don't know if that's helpful or not

I'm a 9.5 normal width in regular shoes. I wear the 44 sidi genuis 5s. There is room in the toes and my feet don't slide around. I ratchet the strap petty hard and leave the velcros on the looser side. I find that the instep hurts my feet off the bike, but on the bike I don't notice it. But that's a foot-shape thing more than size.

Hope that helps.

I probably could have gotten away with the 43.5s, but I doubt I could have fit a thick wool sock into them as I can with the 44s. Now that I have winter shoes that's less of an issue.

I'm a 10.5 in most sneakers, and I use a 44.5 Sidi Genius 5.

Castelli wool sucks fit fine for me. But they aren't thick

I'm a size 10 sneaker and a size 44 Sidi and they're snug. No thick socks for me!

For some reason, Sidi thinks that a wafer thin footbed is the way to go and I barely have room for the substitutes I put in there.

I'm a solid 11.5 D dress shoe. Sidi 46 std. width Genius 5 or 6.6 fit me like a glove after a tiny bit of break-in.

Because it is. You don't need to cushion for impact in a cycling shoe. Just enough to conform the last to your foot without allowing movement. The tension straps should provide enough volume adjustment for heavier socks.

yes, that was the point of my size comment - as a size 10 sneaker dude my 44 sidis barely fit. Since the OP wears an 11, I reckon his feet would never make it into a 44.

As for the footbed... well, the substitute is more comfortable for me.

I wear size 11 in most all brands. I wear a 45 mega width in the Sidi Dominator. The Sidi shoes seem to be narrow (European).

Thanks folks...Yeah I was pretty certain of using 45s until I checked out the foot guide thing, which placed me at a solid 44. Of course, that's probably not a guide that's shoe specific so I'm a little weary of it. I'm a wide foot for sure so I can occasionally fit into 10.5 US shoes that are on the wider side. Nikes, etc, are narrow so I'm always an 11. That said, seems like the 45 would be a good choice for me.

just did try-on session with the Sidi Rep while he had his demo truck in town, using his Sidi scale/brannock device, measured 45.
I'm just a hair shy (really) of an 11 on a US brannock.
Tried on the Genius 5, and 45 fit like a glove. I'm a c-/B+ width...
45.5 was too long, 44 was too short
I currently ride a Sidi Zephyr - 45

EDIT: noted the width on the regular 45 of the Genius was just a touch wider than past versions, tired on the narrow last and that fit me well for me to order the same shoe in 2 hole spd pattern - Dominator 5 - also tried that on - same shoe/last/fit/features

Size 11 Asics running shoe
Size 45.5 Sidi Genius 5
All my shoes are normal width. Maybe you should buy 2 sizes on line and return the one that doesn't fit.

I wear a 10.5 in Asics & Saucony runners. Asics fit best, with Saucony feeling a tad narrower- but still fitting well. Nike 10.5 runners are narrow for me, so I don't bother with them.

Nike 10.5 basketball shoes fit me very well. Size 11 in any brand are too big. All my non-cycling shoes are "standard width". I DO have wide feet, but Asics & Saucony both seem to use a wider last.

I ride in 44.5 mega (Genius 6.6) and they're almost perfect- just a hair too long. I've found that I can wear thick woolies and regular thin socks with equal comfort.

I did ride for about 2 years in the same model Sidi, in 44 mega. They were spot-on, in length, but just not quite wide enough for me.

HTH.

Interested in trying out some 44 megas (Genius 6.6)? They might give you just enough wiggle room for thick socks.

Size 9.5 in normal shoes, I had a Sidi Genius 5 Mega in Size 43.5 that fit me fine. The normal Sidi run really narrow if you ask me. Why the Genius 5 and not 6.6? I think 5 is a decent but not great shoe.

Are you a woman or did you mistakenly look at the woman's size? Because the Sidi foot chart shows a 11 is a 45.5

10.5 shoe size here and SIDI Genius 5 at 45 fit perfect for me. Don't need the megas as I have a fairly narrow foot.
