What inner tubes do you use?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What inner tubes do you use?

Hello,

What inner tubes do you all use? (brand, size) And what inner tube spare do you take with you? Is it the same or a different?

I was riding on my Conti GP4000s with Michelin Aircomp 700x22-23mm and punctured a hole. I'm shopping for replacements and don't know if I should stick with the Aircomp or try another inner tube.

So what do you use?

Why do you prefer 60mm long valve compared to a 40mm?

I buy q-tubes, generally just reboxed / relabeled Kenda tubes. 700x23 with 60 or 80mm valve stems.

He probably has deeper wheels (say 40mm rims) so he doesn't has to use a valve extender

I really prefer the Michelin tubes. If you buy them 10 or 12 at a time you can get them for around $5 each. Well worth it over the cheap generic tubes.

on a 32mm rim, the 40mm valve is barely long enough for my pump. 60mm just makes things easier

I tend to prefer Specialized tubes, but I've bought others on sale or when I couldn't find my preferred type. I don't have any bikes with deep section rims, so I try to find the tubes with the 32mm valves.

Performance has changed suppliers for their Forte tubes. The new ones seem to be ultra-suck. See the reviews. Used to be almost 100% positive. Now down to 56%. See also:
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-*-amp-y-tubes!!!

Presently I'm using Vredestein, though the valves can be troublesome. Schwalbe tubes have a very good reputation. For spares, I carry old patched Forte LunarLight. If you've already used a tube, you know it holds air, plus I like to carry ultra-light spare tubes.

I've been using these with good results:

Nashbar 48mm Long Valve Presta Tube 700x19/26 $3.59

or

Nashbar 80mm Long Valve Presta Tube 700x19/26 $4.79

Tough to beat those prices.

because my wheels are 38mm deep...

Michelin AirComp here (for now) have been good to me, no flats since switching from tubeless, but am considering Conti Race Light to get removable valve stem cores (for adding sealant)...

Michelin Aircomp 700x22-23mm

If you puncture too much, google "moving companies".

Once or twice a yr, the local perforrmance has a deal where they blow em out (no pun intended) for about 3 or 4 bucks. Forte brand. I usually buy 6-8 and they normally last me a long time

They also make puncture-resistant tubes that weigh something like 2 lbs each. Train on the for a while and your race wheels will feel buoyant.

Performance opened a new store on the north side of Indy a couple of years ago and were selling their tubes for a buck each, so I bought the limit. They then opened a store on the south side not too long after and did the same, so I did the same. I'm still working through those.
