Your big Memorial Day weekend riding plans?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'll ride Friday, Sunday, Tuesday (off Tues, whoopee!). Sunday will probably be 50 miles or so with my local son; I'm going to slow him down terribly and I'll feel guilty, maybe guilty enough to tell him to press on after 20 miles or so, but it will be fun to share a few miles with him.

Racing on Saturday morning (8AM race, an hour away, what was I thinking?). A nice leisurely few hours on Sunday in between episodes of Arrested Development. Same thing on Monday.

First mountain pass ride of the year. Only 60 miles and 5000' for two pass climbs, but it's snowing up there right now. Hope it quits. Wife and I intend to go for a PR for this ride on our tandem.

No ridding for me for another 4 weeks probably. Recovering from surgery a little over a week ago. And of course the weather will be great for the holiday weekend for once. Go figure.

I will be driving 100 miles east to gain warm, dry weather and enjoy the beauty of the Kittitas Valley. My goal is to break in the new bike with a couple 25 mile rides.

Actually hitting the mountains for the first time this year. Leaving here in a bit to ride a loop of about 56 miles with 4700 feet of climbing, and then doing a big climb on sunday morning of about 75 miles with 7500 feet of climbing...then drinking wine sunday night as a recovery method! Resting monday.

Why waste valuable holidays resting? That's what work is for.

I'm camping tonight, but I hope to take my new bike out for the first time tomorrow when I get home. Brand new to biking, so just a handful of miles, probably. Could not be more excited.

Kewl, good luck! Let us know how it goes.

For me, I've been commuting all week which gives me 180 miles (I've been fighting lots of wind). I'll do a 100 mile club ride tomorrow morning (flat but with wind). Rest Sunday. 100 miles with ~6000' of elev. gain Monday morning with friends from work on a very scenic and slower ride.

well, since I FINALLY got my replacement chain on the other day and weather has been pretty sucky (and looks to be continuing sucky this weekend) I'm going for about a 35ish miler, my longest single mileage ride to date. my commuting partner and I are meeting up along the route, he'll have a few extra miles over me, but that's ok I reckon, I can take the long way back if I wanna make it up. really lookin forward to it as it'll be my first long ride since the chain replacement and he's letting me borrow a Romin saddle to try out, says if I like I can keep, YEAH!!

The only riding plan I have is either Sunday or Monday morning. Still debating if I should do a 42 or a 65 mile ride.

Ya. Sounds like you are doing it backwards....
