Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Raleigh Super Grand Prix.. Any good?

I saw a listing for one and was wondering if it was any good. The listing price is $75 and it needs a chain and tires. The seller says that everything is original. I thought that since it has bar end shifters that it couldn't be that bad. Here are a couple pictures:

Saddle is worth most of that $75 by itself.

25.5 inches, or 64.77 cm, c-t. Tall Raleighs were somewhat short in the top tube, though. It could be a nice frame for the guy with long legs and wants to keep the handlebar somewhat level with the saddle.

Regarding the Brooks B-17. I only got $55 for mine, and it was in better condition than that. But for $75--well, let me say I've seen much worse bikes sold for three times as much.

I am a newbie, so I still haven't developed the eye to determine size from a picture. I had no idea that frame was that big. Were these entry level or mid level bikes? I was really looking into this one and a '88 Schwinn Le Tour, but if the frame is too big for this one, I guess I will eliminate it.

Don't form any conclusions from the bar end shifters. They probably aren't original. You can put bar end shifters on any bike.

As far as whether it'll fit, I'm 6'2" and the Super LeTour that I have is 25". But, it also has a fairly short top tube. YMMV.

On a modern frame, I usually take a 60 cm.
