I'm looking into getting a power meter installed on my 2013 S5 VWD. I am also looking at the Wahoo KICKR.
If I have a power meter installed and already have a road machine, can you see any benefit to having the KICKR?

All you need for a power meter is a wheel or crank to attach it to and a computer to display/record the data. No Kickr (what is that anyway?) required.

I believe the KICKR can let you sit in one gear and it will automatically set the resistance rather than requiring you to shift gears and cadence to get to your target wattage. That's something. How much it matters is up to you, but there it is.

The KICKR controls your power, the same as a treadmill will control your speed (as long as you can hold it) when you set it to a certain speed. It does a very good job of it as well - the traces I've seen of users power are really tight.
VERY different from a KK Road Machine. I currently use a Cycleops Fluid2 + PM + TrainerRoad for my solution, but I'll probably get a KICKR or equivalent in the future since it makes it much easier to hold the target power when you're really suffering. Still, KK+PM is already really good for training.

Okay, guess I'm going to send back the KK Road Machine and get the KICKR. Thanks!
