There are a LOT of $5K bikes out there and they all are great. As someone else said try a bunch of different ones and then get it built up the way you want it. Your aunt only has to got to the store when the bike is delivered. Most shops will swap out all sorts of stuff so you can upgrade what YOU want. The treak Madone 5.9 Project One bike is an option worth considering too. The important thing is riding the bikes to find out what geomitry fells best for YOU!! I have a great bike that everyone drools over, but I just can't get comfortable on it. My training bike ($800 aluminum pig) is far more comfortable. For that kind of money you should get a bike that you enjoy!!
What is your aunt's name and Where do I send the adoption papers???

You have gotten lots of comments, about half of them "serious". Let me add or reinforce what some others have said. There are a lot of good bikes but bikes fit different people different ways. This implies that either you know a lot about exactly what you want or you depend on the expertise of a good shop to help you determine what works well for you. This likely implies that going for a custom frame/bike is not the best strategy.
Remember also that there are several "necessary" bike pieces that you will probably need. The primary ones are 1) pedals (usually not included in the price of top-level bikes); 2) shoes; 3) cyclecomputer (maybe with heartrate monitor etc.); and 4) miscellaneous bottles/pump/repair kit/bike bag (under saddle) etc. If you are at a slightly lower price point, you might discuss getting two sets of wheels such as Ksyrium: SLs for racing-type riding and the Elite for training etc. You might also look to get a couple of types of tires - light racing and heavier training. The shop should be able to write you up a composite ticket.
Therefore, you are probably looking for a $4000-4500 bike. I suggest that you look at some "budget" top-level bikes such as Giant TCR Comp0 (Telekom rides them) and the Fuji Team Pros (both of these are carbon fiber frame/fork, w/ Dura Ace or Campy for the Fuji at least). These list for about 4500 and with a good shop you can probably get them for about 3800-4000.
Good luck and remember to ride your several final choices. Since it seems that you might be a ways from good stores, you might try to identify a store and then start the discussion with them by phone and get a set to consider. Then go the the manifacturers' websites to peruse the details before you even visit (but after you have gotten guidance). Also go to Roadbikereviews and see what people have said (but take nothing as gospel, including praise and harsh criticism.

Did you get to try out the Vamoots? Just curious about how it rode and what made you decide to go with it.
