Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Difference in Specialized Toupe models?

Looking at the specialized website, I see the S-Works Toupe, the Specialized Toupe Pro, and the Specialized Toupe Expert. My LBS only has an Expert to test ride.

What's the deal with all the different models?

the difference between the pro and the expert is carbon versus titanium rails.

I think between some of the saddles as mentioned by nachoman is rail materials, as well as padding level.

I recently returned a Pro and exchanged it for the Expert, just to soften the ride a bit.

S-Works Toupe is full carbon. padding is sort of glued on top of carbon shell.

Toupe Pro, has carbon rails, and carbon/composite mix shell. Adaptive edge, and Invisible Edge design with no plastic bits front and rear.

Toupe Expert has Ti rails, and plastic shell.

Padding level is similar across these particular models.
