Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What do ya reckon of something like this?

I wouldn't worry about it. One good ride in the rain and the problem will resolve itself.

One of usual comments in 'am I a poseur' threads is that you may perhaps wear team apparel, but you should refrain from claiming credits that you didn't earn. I guess rainbow gear fits into that category.

Personally, I couldn't care less if people show up with shoes like these. FWIW, when I was on the market for a new pair, I could get the Sidi Energy WC edition for considerably less than the black version. Still, I went for the black... Great shoes, BTW.

I love white shoes. Remember White Shoes Willie Johnson? Unfortunately, they are difficult to find. I purchased a set of Specialized Pro Carbons in white. As to the wag that thinks the whiteness will resolve itself in the rain, I reply BS! Whatever the hell they are made of, even grease readily comes off with a squirt of windex and a towel. Having said that, I would prefer that you didn't get them - I like unique things while others seem to like to play lemming.

Did I mention my white Giordana bib shorts? Now if I could only find white gloves. When I go by, I want you to just see a flash of white (including my teeth).

Not at all. You'll need some white bibs, too.

They probably won't be white for long.

Well, I'm in Australia, so there's not much chance we'll show up to the same party wearing the same shoes

The funny thing is, is that i've been "stirring" other wankers (lightheartedly) for wearing flashy, shiny white booties.......in the middle of SUMMER!!???!!??!!

so it would be kinda hypocritical

Hey, where can I get those white booties? I'm doing two time trial races next month and want some new booties. Was going to go with yellow, but white would do it!

They sure stand out!!
For the M.A.S.H. fans out there, the flashy booties remind of the time Klinger
was escaping on a hang glider wearing his fluffy pink slippers

Another fan of white here, although with the crap I ride through some days, I don't think I'll ever buy white shoes. But is a white seat as bad as white shoes? I plan on putting this on my new LOOK. And white bar tap too. I only wish I could find Ultegra pedals in white like the LOOK CX6 pedals.

White shoes are where it's at, not only do I own white cycling shoes but i also don't have a single pair of shoes that isn't white except for my workboots. And yes that means a pair of white dress shoes.

White's nice, if you keep it clean. Even after 4000KM, mine still look like new thanks to regular washing and white shoe polish. If you treat them as any nice pair of leather shoes should be, I see no problem with wearing white. However, the lower-maintenance black ones are much cheaper for a reason.

White is fine for kit colour as long as it fits with everything else. Personally, I wear Canadian colours, so white shoes on a red frame look good. Also, I get far, far less crap from motorists - in fact, they are actually considerate towards me.

I love the white, i'm thinking of getting a pair of white diadoras. anyone every tried diadora road shoes? or specialized? how do they feel? anyways the white is great, all old school sneakers are white. Plus, i believe in matching since i'm in a design profession, everything should match somewhat.

I got a pair of 05 Specialized Carbon shoes (white of course) for xmas, and I love them. Fit perfectly, and well designed. Sure beats those ***** looking silver shoes I used to wear!
