Tire Condition
I have some old Continental Grand Prix tires on one of my collectors bikes that I'd like to ride again and am wondering since I see threads on the sidewall if that means its time to give them the ol' heave ho or are they still usable?

I'd say replace them. Not worth the risk of a failure as where those are likely to bust is not easy to boot.
Check probikekit where you should be able to find a new pair of GP4000s for around $80 or good Michelins for a little less.

I found a set of tires like that on an old bike (Conti GPs too!)... the rubber was brittle too and that thready looking stuff was just flaking. They're in a landfill somewhere now.

Cost of a pair of new tires is much less than medical bills from a high speed blow out.
