Just bought my first road bike!!!! Bike Porn in thread
Hey all,
I have been wanting to start commuting to work in an effort to become more active and healthy. I went to the store to buy a 2012 Fuji Roubaix 3.0 entry level $500 model but it actually ended up not being available. After riding a entry level bike they had at performance Bicycle I was unimpressed since I had previously road a better Roubaix. So i ended up in the end breaking my budget and buying an upgraded 2012 Fuji Roubaix 10 speed with Tiagra shifters. I found the gears, breaks, handle bars along with everything else to be much better on this bike than on the other bike I was testing So i sprung for it.
heres she is

Nice! From a fellow Fuji owner ('06 Team Pro) Congratulations! Oh, I mean "Flip it" (and then put it back the way you want it when no one is looking).

It also appears to have the world's smallest (and, thus, most useless) dork disc still on it. Points for shooting from the drive side with the big/little combination.

Looks great! That's a nice shade of blue. I hope you ride the heck out of it.

Thanks I will try. Im very out of shape though.... I mean I dont look it I look real athletic actually but on the inside I am an obese guys lol. I rode about 5 miles today. I can push about 25 miles an hour according to the phone gps. I will look forward to when i can push the harder gears fast and longer. There really is something specially about being on a bike at fast speeds pushing hard. =) I do a bit a lower back discomfort though. Granted I have ridden for the last 3 days much more than I ever have. I am trying to keep my core tighter but probably have alot to learn about proper form. Also the shop didnt fit me like I had expected. They unforuntately kinda just looked at me on the bike and said it looks good but I might see if they can take another look when i go in for my 30 day tune up.
Anyone know if its worth it to buy a 2 year extended warrenty from performance bicycle? it was 60 I think.

In most cases, extended warantees are a waste.

Nice bike. With you mentioning discomfort, just remember not to over do it right from the get go. Was it something like increase your miles no more than 10% a week or something. It would stink to have a nice new bike and be laid up with an injury.
I know a guy who was all into cycling...got a bike, rode about 5 miles on first ride, 30 on second ride, and I don't think there was a third ride.

An extended warranty from a place with lifetime unconditional returns? Utter waste.

I find it amazing that Specialized and Fuji haven't gone toe-to-toe over the use of "Roubaix" as a bike model name.

You can't copyright a town's name, especially if that town doesn't beling to you. If Specialized got a penny out of Fuji, I'm sure the next phone call they receive would be the mayor of Roubaix demanding them to a) hand over everything they got from Fuji and b) fork over a similar share of their own Roubaix sales.

It's not a copyright question, it's a trademark question. Usually companies in the same business do not use similar, much less identical, trademarks.
The mayor of the town isn't relevant in the real world.

That's a 2010 Roubaix 3.0 with an upgraded drivetrain to call it "Performance Exclusive" or whatever they call it. Still a nice bike, but they lied to you if they told you it's a 2012.

Regarding that flip and back problems, I have to admit that I just finished de-flipping and un-slamming my bike. Every time I ride my back is tight when I'm done and lately it's been going into spasms, so screw the aesthetics. If the back pains persists, of course, then I'll de-de-flip and un-un-slam it back because, hey, who wants to look like a Fred?
