My freehub fell off today
So I ran over a nail on my ride today and stopped to change the tube. That went fine.
When I go to put my wheel in, it seems that my hub (a White Industries T11) is now wider than the dropouts. I try to finagle the wheel in, when I realize that the freehub body is a lot further from the hub than it should be. I spend about 3 minutes trying to get it back in, when a landscaper (who is also a cyclist) offers some assistance. He goes to his car and gets a few screwdrivers to push the pawls in so I can get the freehub back in the shell. I check to see if it's fixed, and it just pops right back off. We do the screwdriver trick again and I just put the wheel back on the bike this time and ride home carefully. This was probably the worst part. I had planned on doing a 4 or 5 hour ride and cut it down to 1 1/2 hours.
After I shower and have lunch, I head to the shop to see if the owner knows how to fix it. He's never seen it before and calls up White Industries and asks about it. They say to Locktite the part back on (it's a pressfit cap thing - no threads). So I did that and now I have to wait until Wednesday morning to ride.

moving target
take it to a lbs, there is a certain tool needed to put in own with out damaging your hub body or free wheel, i would ask to have both my hub body and free wheel inspected first

You should also have your dropout spacing checked. I had this happen to a rear hub on our tandem and I believe it was caused by the spacing-induced tension causing that pressed-on part to loosen.

There is a 2mm set screw in the collar on the nondriveside. It is loose. Push the assembly together and then tighten the setscrew. 3 second fix once you know what you are looking at.

If your drive side cap is no longer press fit into the axle end then you need a new axle. Readily available and they don't cost much.
You could also pull it and use some sleeveing Loctite on the joint and press them back together. That would work fine too.

I did the loctite method. Might get another axel just to be safe.
