For example a bicyclists pushing a downs syndrome child across the state. Typically there are riders from every state in the nation and 15 foreign countries who all love biking. Why else would you come to Iowa in the last week in July for a vacation.
Regarding the beer drinking and PARTYING until all hours of the night. Yes you can find this on RAGBRAI. But you will also find people who go to bed at 9 PM and get up at sunrise to ride. The same goes for riding ability. Like everything on RAGBRAI you just do what you want.
The small communities really work hard to host RAGBRAI and very friendly. It is truly a unique event that you should consider doing at least once. My last RAGBRAI was in 2009 and I am doing it again this year. I can not wait.
And yes being an Iowan I will even welcome Lance. Of course if he buys me a beer or piece of pie then he is a friend for life!
And LeClaire is home to that cutie, Danielle, on American Pickers. Plus one her bosses at Antique Archaeology is an antique bicycle nut.
The Mid-West 24 Hour race has been run out of there, too. Just based on that, Iowans are good people in my experience.
