Actually my handlebar is oily after a long sweaty day in the saddle. Can't believe there is the same oil excretion at 20 deg F...so maybe weight loss isn't due to sweat but rather the by product of oil.

Hmm, I normally only weigh myself after. I should get both on Monday.

I'm sure you all eagerly await the results.

Simple and scientific fact: Sweating is only related to maintaining body temperature. It has zero correlation to calories spent. You can see evidence of that in Arizona's heat and in saunas in Minnesota. That is also why the higher your rate of exertion, the higher your rate of sweating. Exertion is correlated to increased heart rate, perceived muscle strain, and increase in body temperature.

The rate of calorie loss, while having a correlation to level of exertion, has uncertain correlation to the climate. I know my blood was thicker when I lived in Minnesota, and I know my blood is thinner now that I live in Arizona. How that affects calorie burning for the same amount of exercise at the same environmental temperature and pressure is not clear, and so is sweating.

You don't plan to take a dump until Monday?

I did this morning already, and I have a tri tomorrow morning. My body's response to a race is normally to plug that up and wait, so I normally don't get a good clearing until the next day.

What brand of plug do you use? (Maybe this should be the topic of a new thread)

So, all day tomorrow, I can tell you that you're full of **** and you'll have no way to deny it?

Both full of **** and anal-rententive, if you'd like.

You're going to enjoy that too much.

Sweating is meaningless. Exercise hard and you sweat to cool off. That's all. It has nothing to do with weight loss in terms of calories other than it happens when you exercise. As far as weight loss goes, exercise is almost meaningless. Half a burger more than makes up for an hour of exercise and most people compensate for exercise by eating more. It takes exercise AND a better diet to lose weight in any meaningful amount and keep it off. I'm down 80lb in the last 3 years but if I were not retired with the time for a bunch of exercise that I love (guess what THAT is ) it would never have happened. I don't judge fat people without the time to exercise. The American diet of meat and fatty foods is the problem. Out national obesity rate is the result. It really isn't the "fault" of most people. Skinny people who don't exercise and eat a fat American diet are just born with lucky genes that let them get away with it.

I'll be trying a new electrolyte add-in on my ride this afternoon. I plan to sweat quite a bit.
