    The 'new' Soras.

Is anyone here riding them regularly now? I've heard good things about them and might soon get a pair.

A few people here have it, and I haven't heard a bad word from any of them about it.

I hear a lot of people who talk about 105 being the best entry point for shimano, I having spent two weeks on a shop bike with the new sora, I can honestly say it's really, really good. I've actually ordered a groupset to put on a drop-bar city bike that I'm planning.

They even remade the 2400/Tourney to the same style. Have a set on my rain bike. Not bad at all.

I've heard good things here, then, too.

I'm curious as to how much of a stigmata racing roadies would associate with my using a bike that has a Sora groupset on it to race.

Most people say/said that the 'standard' level of a group for a race bike would be/of been 105, as that is where the value per money or performance for cost starts to deminish and you only get marginal gains for considerable amount more money.

I don't think that's the case any more, I race my Sora bike. Sora doesn't hold my bike back, even after upgrading other components (contact points and wheels from stock), they still aren't holding anything back. It's the rider!

For guys racing on a budget (like myself), I'd say Sora is perfect - although I haven't used a higher mechanical groupset (only Di2 Ultegra and DA on buddies bikes).
And, an added bonus, I get this silly grin on my face when I out-sprint/climb someone with a Dura-Ace shifters that cost the same amount of my whole bike.

Pretty sure they wouldn't make your hands spontaneously bleed. Even the old ones wouldn't do that.

I tested the new Sora and wasn't very impressed. There's a lot of sloppiness in the system IMO. The latest 10sp Tiagra is very good though, I have it on a secondary bike. The hoods are quite small on Tiagra. I prefer the larger 105 hoods on my primary bike.

As mentioned the latest version of 2300 (called Claris) now has the same style upshift button as Sora/Tiagra.

Depends on how hard you hit the thumb button. They're pretty pointy, man.

does the new sora specify between double and triple or are they compatible with both like the older tiagra shifters?

Weird. For some reason I was under the impression that the new Sora got rid of the thumb shifters.

They did get rid of the thumb shifters. Those are the cable ports.

Its pretty good. good cables make a huge difference. My Only complaint is the lack of cassette options.

I am the OP. I meant "stigmata", which is the plural of "stigma". In the same way that "data" is a plural.
I made a typo and inserted the word "a" in my post by accident.

    Your sentence structure suggests otherwise.

Not if you know how to properly use "how much," vs "how many."
