    New Wheelset?

    Hey Guys,
I've been road cycling for roughly 6-7 months. I'm currently riding a Merida RideLite 91 and I'm loving Road cycling a lot. I've summed up the money for a new upgrade (Roughly 600NZD or 500USD) and I was thinking a new wheelset to replace my current Alex Race 24's. Would this be a good idea? Or would my money be better spent somewhere else on the bike?
    Any advice would be appreciated

    Putting 600$ wheels onto a 900$ bike isn't a great idea.
If you must, wiggle some fulcrum 5s

On the other hand, he can always take the wheelset with him when he inevitably upgrades his bike later. Fulcrum 5 are ok, but they are pretty heavy. There are a lot of solid and light weight wheelset out there in your price range. Just do a quick search on this forum.

My race bike is a Bikes Direct AL frame that now sports a Quarq and handbuilt carbon tubulars. Love it.

Hey, thanks for the replies. I had the idea that I would buy a nice set for my current bike and then put them on a future bike. I am just a little worried about participating in events like Taupo Challenge (161km) on my current rims since I've heard bad reviews about them and my back wheel seems to be making a rubbing noise. (Only noticed that today) lol

    Thoughts on these sets?

Over 400 and you need to add GST + a customs fee so add another 100 at least.

As I said, the Fulcrum 5s are good value especially if you want to use them as an every day wheel.

The rubbing noise can be of two possibilities. Either your rear wheel is out of tru and is rubbing the brakes or the brakes went out of place and is rubbing the wheels.

As for a new wheelset for your budget, this will net you the most value:

Lightest wheelset in it's class. Personally using one myself and loving it! Had it for almost 2 years with no problems.
