    zipp wheel question

met a guy yesterday that has 12 zipp wheels. they are older models and mostly singles. the best set is a newer 404 front is complete but the rear is just the rim. i think 4 are clinchers the rest are tubulars. 2 sets are 650c. he wants a $1000, what do you guys think, good deal? of course i would keep the best set for myself and sell the rest. is there money to be made here or what? thanks

Maybe if you're adept at Ebay and willing to go through the hassle of doing so, but it sounds like a lot of effort for a small potential payout (if any) to me.

It seems to me that you probably wouldn't lose money on the deal but depending on the age and quality of the wheels the up side isn't much either.

Two wheels good. Four wheels bad.

$1000 for all 12 wheels? That seems reasonable. Even older sets of 404s can still get $400-$500.

Half are 404 others are deeper, I was thinking at even $200 each. I just don't want to set on 10 wheels and loose money.

Zipp wheels can be built using standard spokes and hubs so it seems like a good deal if you want a bunch of carbon wheels for cheap.
