My frame is Di2 compatible. I have a BH G6..still deciding but i am leaning towards the Di2, I don't race much anymore so the heavier weight is a non issue for me.

I don't think shifting is a "worry" for anyone. That doesn't mean a new product cant come along offering improvements. This is illustrated by how the market is responding. If electronic shifting really solved serious problems, it would be flying off the shelf at any price. What we see is an incremental improvement with early adopters and people with expendable cash going for it, and lots of others saying "that's cool, maybe I'll try it when its much cheaper".

It boggles the mind how shifting is now a 'worry.' Not picking on you, aramis, you are by no means alone expressing this sentiment - too many recent threads to count about electronic shifting.
BTW, I spent quite a bit of time in Santa Cruz in the 70's and 80's and heading back in a month. Used to ride highway 9 from Ben Lomond to Santa Cruz without a helmet and am happy to be alive.
OP, I say stay with what you know.

Don't get me wrong, there's something satisfying about smoothly moving up three rear cogs with a shimano mechanical group, but electronic is better.
The Santa Cruz mountains are still an awesome place to ride and the descents are unbelievably fun. I pretty much don't bother riding anywhere else because I haven't found any place better.
It's more of a pita, not hard or impossible. With a cable bike you just run the cables/housing then trim and done. With electronic you need to figure out a clean way to run the wires and junction box and mount the battery.

RED! I just don't know about that new fangled electronic gadget! I would have to ride a demo bike with the Di2 to see what I think about it. Those who do run it I have a question................If your out and about many miles from your begin point and your battery dies on the unit, how do you shift then**********
Maybe I am missing something on this unit and how it works and I have to admit, not done any reading on it because for the money it cost is not on my radar one bit. Just curious.

Good move. Di2 actually makes changing gears fun.

Di2. I would never buy it so if I had a free option, I would try it. See what all the fuss is about.

Congrats! What picks pushed you over the top? What's your stage picking scheme?!
Red or Ui2? Since your frame is ready, go electronic.
You already did top-end mechanical, so try something new.
