Small cut in tire...what to do

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Small cut in tire...what to do

Hey guys...I have a small, and I mean very small, cut in a relatively new tire. It did go through but did not puncture the tube. Can this be fixed with maybe a small film of Shoe Goo on the inside of the tire and squeezing a little Super Glue into the cut or should I toss the tire? Hate to toss it out as it's darn near new.

Read Sheldon's explanation, specifically the "Tire Wear-When should you replace your tires?":

All the way through the cords ? If you pump to 100 psi, does it bulge there ??

If the cords are cut, it's toast. If only rubber cut and cords intact, it's ok.

I always forget about Sheldons site. per Sheldon "Small punctures in the tire such as are typically caused by nails, tacks, thorns or glass slivers are also harmless to the tire, since the tire doesn't need to be air-tight". Thats good, however, should I try to seal it up to prevent the tear increasing in size?

Put a piece of duct tape over the inside cut and ride it.
You can put a drop of super glue in the cut on the outside if you want.

Put some super glue in there and keep an eye on it. If it is still ok after a few hundred km it should be fine.

I've tried the super glue approach and am not sure about it. I've had the super glue come through to the tube and puncture it. I think it has to be very carefully done with no excess glue. Now, instead of that I fill the hole with polyurethane caulk. Not as perfect a job, but it works OK. Duct tape good. That softer cornering rubber does cut more easily.

That tire should be fine for many more miles. Maybe for peace of mind glue a small, thin boot on the inside or some duct tape, but it'll probably be fine without as well.

I have almost the same cut and tried the super glue route. Once you inflate, it breaks the bond. So I just let it be as is but as already posted, placed it in the rear.

I did the duct tape on the inside and tried pushing in some super glue. I'm guessing it'll be fine. it was a rear tire already.

Is that a Michelin? I used to love them but have found them very prone to cutting. Now I only ride Conti GP4000.

Superglue it after it's inflated.

I have cuts like that in mine. No biggie. If it starts to bulge then replace it.

Buy better glue. It should work just fine.

I get little nicks and cuts in my Vittoria Rubino Pros, too. I don't know that any of 'em have gotten to the inside of the tire like yours, but so far none of those little cuts have caused any problems.

Shoe goo will flex, works great. Superglue does not flex.

You still have major chicken strips on those tires. Go around some tight fast corners already.
