Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

2013 Vuelta Corsa Superlite vs 2013 Boyd Vitesse alloy clincher

Has anyone ridden both and which would you choose, $399 for the Vuelta 1495g and $650.00 for the Boyds at 1610g. LBS is offering $425.00 out the door (Vuelta) with lifetime truing and free install, sounds good in my opinion, at 1495g for the wheelset it seems like a fantastic deal.

Boyd's are 1610 g for 24/28, which is what I assume you are after.

Nashbar has a 20% off coupon right now and you can get Vuelta SLR's for $280 after shipping. About the same weight.

I was shopping in this price range for a while and was intrigued by these:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-2013-600...item58a1bee650
Don't know if they're actually 1365gm, but if they're close, but definitely lightest I've seen for the price. FWIW I went with a used pair of Hed Ardennes (1450gm) because I read many reviews that touted the benefits of wide rims (like the Boyds); I'm now a believer! Wanting to upgrade my other bikes to wide rims, I'm looking at these:
https://hoopswheels.com/wheels2426e.html (In the same weight/price range).
Then there's also these:
https://www.neuvationcycling.com/prod...40-gr-1677.htm
If you want to stick between the two, I'd go with the Boyds. The wide rim really gives more speed, handling, and comfort IMO.
Happy hunting!

Dang, I'm wondering if I should spring for these? My bike has the stock Mavic Aksium wheels on it. I'd go from 1735 grams to 1467 grams for my pair by upgrading.

Are the Vuelta reliable wheels for a 200+lb rider and country chip & seal roads?

I have the Vuelta Corsa SLR's from Nashbar. Got it with the 20% off. Very light wheels and have no issues at all. I'm very happy with my purchase. Another thing to look out for is that other retailers show the weight of those Vuelta Corsa Superlites slightly higher (mid 1500s).

If you're over two bills, you might be happier with the higher spoke count.
