Maybe he stopped to trade his cycling kit for a Hawaiian shirt and some flip flops.
Not quite leisurely, just a steady tempo.

He did catch me. I said hello and sat on his wheel for a km or two.

Actually, I ride full carbon everything with Campagnolo SR, so...I think he saved a few bucks with his Ultegra Giant TT bike.

    No, bro.

I have an account but can't be bothered. Maybe I'll use it for a race or something epic like 4 or 5 hours in the high mountains. As it is I'm spending more time in the gym fixing some core issues and doing rides that I have done a thousand times before. I don't need no stinkin' Strava for that.

If I was using Strava I'm sure I'm riding segments no-one else is so I could KOM the crap outta the place. Whoop, Whoop...

He caught you, stayed with you, and couldn't hack the pace so imploded out of embarrassment. Who knows... unless he did stop and duck behind something to take a leak or turned around it's unlikely he just vanished.

Your post did look very much like the kind of thing that surfaces where people were riding their $100 POS bike with their shopping in the basket on the front while wearing flip flops and couldn't understand why the folks riding in formation wearing the funny shaped helmets shouted at them for overtaking.

It may have looked like it but if you read the words I'm confident they didn't say anything like that.

They certainly didn't, the post "I was riding, not going particularly fast, this TT guy caught me but couldn't hack the pace and when I ramped up the pace he fell off the back so fast he vanished so fast I couldn't understand what happened" the sentiment comes off much the same, whether you were riding a $10,000 carbon TT bike or a $100 POS.

So you didn't read my original post then. Instead you're trying to make it something it is not. Please stop.

There was no ramping. The was no hacking. There was no falling off of anything.

The point was the guy totally vanished on a stretch of road that it is really, really hard to vanish on. My original post was tongue in cheek but I am truly puzzled as to what the heck happened to the guy.

This guy was gone and there was nowhere to go. It was really wierd.

I think there's more to this story. C'mon, Bob, flesh out the details. Where was your brother Joe while this was going on? And don't try to tell me that Chet Morton can keep up on those false flats.

    Let's hear the real story.

The pleasure is momentary, the position ridiculous, and the expense damnable.

    ^^^ Like.

I wonder how many on this board will even get the reference? Maybe a Scooby Doo meme would play better with this crowd.

Judging on some of the posts I've seen elsewhere I'm going to say more like Pokemon.

    Kidding...just kidding.
