Giant Peloton - need help!

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Giant Peloton - need help!

Hey folks,

since I´m a student and I don´t happen to Scrooge-like swim in money I got me a used racer .

125 $ ( ~100 €) seemed fair to me - so I got it.

Now I have a few questions:

a) How old is this bike. My guess is 1991.
b) What all the stuff is I bought, especially the gearshift - pictures attached.

What I found out so far:

A rare Giant Peloton PDM Paint. PDM was a cycling team back in the late 80s / early 90s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PDM_(cycling_team)
Shimano Exage Action brakes and derailleur (still I´m missing the product number).
Shimano Biopace gears

Hope anyone can help.

Cheers

a) yes, it is from the early 90's.
b) can you re-state the question.

Bottom line - it looks like a nice bike at a decent price and if it fits well and works well, go ride it. Put about 1000 miles on it and come back and give us a report.

Oh, and lose the tri bars. At least for awhile.

OP, The front der cage is bent. It looks like it will contact the teeth of the large chainring when you try yo downshift. It needs to be dealt with. Ride the heck out of it but don't invest any money in upgrades.

BTW, those are not PDM colours. PDM was mostly white and black with red/green/blue splashes (IIRC). They were one of my favourite teams at the time.

I´d love to know what system that is, Exage 300, 500 etc.

Yea, the cage is now adjusted, the pictures are a few days old.

Well - it is some kind of PDM colour. Cuz the PDM logo, the PDM splashes, thats all painted, no stickers or something. And the former owner said he bought it the way it is.
