I'm jealous.

Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I'm jealous.

I am currently on holiday in Belize and I consistently see kids on racing bikes that make me want to ride these pot hole ridden pathways that they call streets. These aren't even budget cruisers. They have carbon forks with decent quality components. It just feels good that can express themselves in a positive activity. I think they are coming off the high of their local road racing series that was just held.

My family and I go to Belize every year for our mission trip. We have a small church that we started in Burrel Boom about 10yrs ago. Our preacher there has a teenage son that is into road cycling. I did notice a LOT of cyclist on those road. I have to drive into Belize City at least every day for construction supplies and I couldn't imagine riding on those roads myself! It's not only the pot holes but the drivers there. If you've never been on the roads in Belize you just couldn't imagine!

I was talking with a local and he said that the progressive Mennonites had the best gear, but I could not get close enough to borrow. With airline weight restrictions, it either bring clothes or a bike. I don't think my family would Approve of the latter.

Not me. These kids push lead lined strand cruisers in 90 degree heat. My rum and coke filled blood stream is no match for Belizean pride powered carbon fiber. I am moving from the mainland to Ambergris cay today and don't want to look like the typical American. Blend in is my motto.

I feel like reporting OP and getting him banned.

Okay. I will work toward submission of pictures. I need to figure how to include pictures from my daughters iPod. I am without any technology.

You call THAT a bad road?

Seriously ... that road looks better than 90% of the roads I ride on here in Belgium.
