Any idea what this bike is worth?
 

I have a Douglas road bike that was given to me and I'd like to sell it and put the $$ toward a new mountain bike. I don't know a lot about road bikes, but from what I've read, Douglas bikes are made exclusively for Colorado Cyclist. I took it to a local shop and they indicated the components on it were of excellent quality, which are all Shimano Dura-Ace. If someone could give me a rough estimate on what I should ask for this bike, I'd appreciate it.

How is it equipped? How old is it? What kind of condition is it in?

more info please...what year, what condition? can you post a pic? is the dura ace group current or older generation.

You'll have to forgive me, like I said, I don't know alot about these bikes. As far as being "equipped", I'm not sure exactly. As far as its age, I would estimate that it's probably around 3-4 years old. As far as condition, it looks brand new to me except for a few scratches from normal riding.

The bike looks to be in good shape in the pics. The groupset looks like 9 speed dura ace. When selling a bike you want to be able to answer questions that potential buyers will ask. The year/make/model are all important. I tried to find this bike on bluebook but couldn't. Other google searches have me thinking it's a 2007...

Al frame, no name wheels, you are gonna be hard pressed to get a lot out of it. I am a Campy fan so I am unsure what gen DA that is, but you may do better parting it out. Nice saddle, Dura Ace whill bring in some coin, and then whatever you get from the frame and wheels is gravy. Or put it on CL for a G or so, and lower the price every week or 10 days til you start getting nibbles.

Not bad. An aluminum bike with a carbon rear seat and chain stays. 9 speed dura ace (7400?), velomax wheels, carbon Reynolds fork. A grand is possible for the right buyer but in some places the season is almost over.

Thanks for looking at it fellas. I was wanting to spend about $1000 on a new MB so this is a good start.

A friend sold the same frame, wheels, and full ultegra for $500 two years ago, which is a step down OP from your parts. It is a nice riding bike, and the Velomax Circuits are well regarded. The right buyer might pay $750-800, but I don't think it would be a fast sell.

And I thought they were low end wheels. Sorry for the misleading advice. Although the rest of my advice was pretty good...

Rear derailleur is 7700. Crankset and levers look like 7700 too. Shimano went to 7800 in ~2004, so I'm not entirely clear what pre-2004 groupset would be doing on a supposedly 2007 bike. Maybe it was someone's idea of an upgrade. I tried counting rings on the cassette and I can only make out 6,

My thoughts too. Me thinks this one is considerable older than 2007?

You can also make out "Made in USA" on the frame. When was the last time anyone made aluminum frames in USA?

Cannondale did up until 2010. Yes, I know that's not of relavence here, but you asked.

Good to know. I remembered about Cannondale but assumed that they were only making high-end (carbon) frames here.

The Dura-Ace parts are Identical to my bike I built with brand new parts in 2003. If it were well used the crankarms (that hold the pedals) would have more of the clear coat worn off. Also the front of the brifters (combination brake and shifters) would be worn more or scratched. Also the words on the front side of the saddle would be partly worn off. To bad you're not a road bike guy, it's a beauty. If I did not already have 2manybikes I would make you an offer right now.

It looks in excellent condition, but I don't follow used bike prices.

Edit - 9 speed cassette.

That group set alone would fetch $4-$500 on eBay.
