Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Do you have the cashmoney/hubs for 22? If not, then no. I've never tried older SRAM hood ergonomics, but the new stuff is bang on for me.

I can swing it and i'm getting new wheels (11 speed compat) to boot.

things that sound good about 22
- yaw front derailleur
- its nice to have the latest

things that sound bad about 22
- more expensive chains and cassettes

Going new ensures the best manufacturer support if it breaks.

The 2012 New Red has the Yaw FD. I've got New Red, and it works great. I see no need to go to 22. That said, if I were buying a bike today, I'd go with 11 speed, particularly if I was also buying new wheels.

IF your buying a top end group, it makes sense to buy the current standard.

Yup, I sure would enjoy that 16tooth or 18tooth on an 11cassette with some real smooth shifting and gear ratios! Is it worth the money for me right now? Probably not but the next time I buy I will get it.

ESPECIALLY since you will be getting new 11speed wheels etc

Buy 11-speed. The market is going that way.

I would go 22. But I can't help you much on the cost of cassettes and chains. In fact I would spend more and get the Red 22 cassette. There is absolutely no better cassette than the Red. I even use it (10 speed) on my Rival setup. I know it is expensive, but it can't be beat. I would suck it up and add that to my Force 22 group if I were you. As for chain, maybe you can save a little with the KMC SLX 11-speed chain. Best chain I have ever used and QUIET!
