Cycling is expensive but is it worth it? Let's examine.

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It's easy to drop 5-10K on a custom acoustic guitar. Still a wooden box

What does the price of your bike have to do with riding alone? One of the best climbers I know rides a beater and nobody cares. He's friendly and everyone likes him and the crappy bike just makes him more fun.

I'm in a road club with 500 members and if you can ride a straight line and aren't obnoxious you can ride any bike you want. It doesn't matter to anyone who matters.
