Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ergo mode for trainers. Good enough?

I am writing a little program here for indoor training. One of the things I tried to do is to automatically keep power during structural workouts on trainers that can be controlled by computer. Take a look at the picture and see if it accurate enough or you got better results on whatever software/trainer combo you are using?

Looks close enough to me. What controllable trainer are you using?

So, what is that?

I've been looking for a "cheap" (like, $500-$600) trainer that allows me usb or ANT+ control over resistance.

PS, this is my indoor training software I wrote for the rare occasion it's cold in Southern California:
https://vrbike.jmxdigital.com

I've got it controlling a floor fan to mimic my speed on the trainer, but I think it'd also be neat to vary resistance with terrain.

Well this one connects through USB but it is anything but cheap (all indestructible industrial grade components along with huge motor and real torque sensor). Coming to market next week or so. It does have absolutely amazing feel though

Gotcha. I think we've had an email conversation more than a couple years ago about my bike training software

Good to see the device is coming along.

Yup we have. That was in regards to making artificial terrain engine. For now the software plays blue ray quality videos all synched to your speed. We have a good sized collection of all famous European rides like Mt. Ventoux, Tourmalet etc. etc. Website coming in next week or so.
