Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

PS: Love that red color! When I got my Domane, my choices were white/black or solid black.
I run about 50-50, but set the back up with less tolerance so it fires first. Under load, the front dominates, which I find preferable for fast descents. In 42 years of one handed riding, and more than 30 with just a front brake, locking up has never been an issue.

The red is Trek's liquid red in matte. The P1 system should have it now.

Very inspiring and tip of the hat to Trek and Sram.
Stay tuned.

Shimano over SRAM

Not sure how the SRAM is set up for you but using the E tube program with Shimano I simply reprogram the left lever to the RD and put a satellite shifter by my thumb for the FD; that's it. Works nice and simple but just getting the brakes to bite nicely is getting to be a head ache. Maybe you're right and the discs need bigger Pistons to displace? I'll keep at it!
I don't cut my bars down either as it makes it too obvious your bike is different and where's the fun in that?

Yeah, since SRAM is involved, I was wondering if they were going to set you up with their e-system. That way you could be using SRAM instead of Sramano.

Also, with the upgrades in 3-D printing, have they thought about doing their modification with a 3-D printer? That way they could share their design with others in your situation. And it might not be too hard to flip it for someone without the use of their other arm.

By the way, did you ever complete the Triple Bypass?

The template that holds the silver buttons for shifting was made on a 3d printer. It's specific to the SRAM hood, but could be easily duplicated for other users.

I did the Triple last year and had a great time. I gave my registration for this year to one of my sons, because I crashed in late June, fractured a couple of ribs and partially collapsed a lung, and my doctors said no elevation over 8k feet above sea level. Next year.

Kind of made up for it riding in the first ever Ride Across Wisconsin, a 175 mile single day event.

Hey, i'm an above right elbow amputee and have been riding a hybrid Merida Crossway for the last year or so. Been searching for ways to get the gears and brakes done on a road bike (Yet to purchase one). Your article really helps, will it be possible to share all the details with me? so that even I can get a similar setup done.
